Hello everyone

I hope you don't mind, and if you do, please do not hesitate to delete this post, but there is a community that you might want to know about, even if you do not wish to join.

homespunhelpers began in late 2006 when news arrived that over 3000 US troops had died in Iraq. Instead of simply lamenting this fact, we formed a community that is spreading sunshine to the world in honor of those who are serving...and dying.

The premise is extremely simple. If you make homemade items and donate them to charities, you are already 95% there. All you have to do to participate is snap a picture of your items and post those pictures to the community. You can donate to whomever you wish. There are no rules on that whatsoever. We are hoping (per the username) to donate 3000 items this year to honor those 3000 who had passed at the end of 2006.

Moreover, it looks like there is going to be a real push in May to make and donate items specifically for the troops. We are trying to target one specific charity that we all can send items to...there is a historical charity that collects scarves, as an example, and sends them to veterans.

If any of this sounds interesting to you, please check out what we are up to, or join us. We'd love to hear your ideas on what groups are the best for showing support for the troops, and what kinds of handmade items troops, veterans, and their families need the most.

Thank you!
